Apple AirPods Max 2 with USB-C, brand new and sealed in Apple's box.

The H2 chip runs the sound and the noise cancelling. Apple rates the cancelling at up to 1.5 times the first AirPods Max, which is the difference between hearing a plane engine faintly and not thinking about it.

Adaptive Audio moves between letting sound in and shutting it out as you walk through the day. Conversation Awareness drops the volume when you start talking to someone, and Transparency lets the room back in when you want it.

Personalised Spatial Audio maps the sound to the shape of your ears and follows your head as you turn, so a film or an album sits in the room rather than inside your head.

Holding the listening mode button starts Live Translation with Apple Intelligence, which turns what the other person is saying into your language as they say it.

Plugged into a USB-C cable, they play lossless audio: the recording as it was mastered, not a wireless copy of it. The same cable charges them, the one you already use for your other Apple things.

Apple rates the battery at up to 20 hours of listening with noise cancelling and Spatial Audio switched on.

The build is a knit-mesh canopy, memory foam and textile ear cushions and telescoping arms, so the weight sits on the top of your head rather than clamping your ears.

What comes in the box?

How long does the battery last?

Apple rates up to 20 hours of listening or watching on one charge with noise cancelling and Spatial Audio on. Turning those off gets you more.

Do I really get lossless audio?

Over the USB-C cable to a compatible device, yes. Over Bluetooth they play like any other wireless headphones; that is a limit of Bluetooth, not of these.

Which colours can I get?

Black, Purple, Orange and Starlight. Choose the colour on this page before adding it to your bag, and a colour with none left is shown crossed out.

Will they work with an Android phone or a PC?

They pair over Bluetooth with anything and sound excellent. Spatial Audio, Live Translation, Adaptive Audio and the other Apple Intelligence features need Apple devices.

Are they good for flights?

That is what noise cancelling handles best: steady engine noise. Sudden sounds, a crying baby or an announcement, still come through.

Are these new?

New and factory sealed. Never used, never refurbished, never open-box, and we record the serial number from the box before it ships.
